Acting like a local

Today, Justin and Sam spent most of the day traveling to a nearby city, Bilbao, in order to get the rental car. They took a 10:30 bus and didn’t get back until about 5pm. So, James and I were on our own. I was determined to get out the house and enjoy the beautiful weather. I’m kinda embarrassed to admit that I don’t feel super confident doing things by myself when we are in foreign cities. Throw a temperamental 2 year old on top of that and I’m very tempted to just stay in the apartment. Not today. I’m not sure exactly what it is about San Sebastián that makes me feel relaxed, but I was ready to get out there by myself.

I packed up James and we headed to the cafe down to block for coffee and a muffin. Then, we went to one of the many parks around our apartment. There is a swing set, slide, see saw, and other things for James to play with. We had lots of fun chasing the pigeons and running around like a nut with no shoes on!

After that, I packed James back up and we walked to the market to buy some more milk, juice, and some baby wipes.

We returned to the apartment to change clothes and headed out to the beach. The location of our apartment rental is fantastic and so convenient. We’ve had so many options for things to do for James. I’m not ready to leave!

When we got back to the apartment, Justin and Sam were back. We sat on the patio and drank some wine before heading out for some pintxos (tapas).

Tomorrow, we leave for Bordeaux. Looking forward to visiting the French countryside, but sad to leave San Sebastián.

  1. Ahhhh, Espana! What a wonderful choice for a family vacation! It looks like everything is going well. Smiles on everyones faces!! Thanks for sharing your pictures. They are beautiful, as is James!
    xoxoxo

  2. OK. So wait a minute. Really? I am the only one to swirl and sniff my wine in front of James? I’ll take some of the blame but on the other side I’ll take most of the credit. Just kidding Alyce. I don’t want you to get mad at me when you are in Europe. It looks and sounds like everyone is having a great time. That’s fantastic. I am jealous. Hopefully, if I’m still alive, married and have a mind left after this new house deal we(Lee Lee and Cappy) can get back to taking some trips like y’alls.
Also, just to let you know, I’ve have talked to Linda a few times and every time I ask her how things are going her response is “FABULOUS” . I think all is well on Canal Blvd.
We love the pictures and posts. Please keep them coming when you have the time.
    Have fun.
    Love Cappy
